The Next-Gen GST reforms have officially commenced, lauded by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as a 'historic' change poised to benefit various sectors including ordinary citizens, farmers, traders, and small businesses. The revamped GST structure consolidates the earlier four-tier slabs into two principal categories: 5% and 18%.

In a press conference held in Shimla, BJP national spokesperson Gopal Agarwal highlighted the government's efforts to simplify and enhance GST transparency. 'The GST system has been simplified 56 times. The Next-Gen GST is designed to deliver relief to the common man, farmers, traders, and small-scale industries,' Agarwal stated.

The BJP is marking this development as a 'GST Savings Festival' nationwide, emphasizing the reform's potential in reducing inflation and establishing an equitable tax framework. With the festive season on the horizon, the reduction in prices is expected to boost household savings and market demand, particularly in the sector of consumer goods.
