The Telangana government's decision to increase Hyderabad's city bus fares by ₹10 has ignited a political storm. BRS working president KT Rama Rao condemned the move, branding it a "cruel conspiracy" designed to exploit the city's poor and middle-class commuters. The fare increase, which took effect on October 6, is expected to add a monthly burden of at least ₹500 on regular users.

KTR expressed concern over this decision coinciding with rising essential commodity prices. He questioned Chief Minister Revnath Reddy on how underprivileged citizens and daily wage workers would manage this additional expense. KTR emphasized that previous hikes in student bus pass and T-24 ticket prices have already strained budgets, signaling what he calls 'undemocratic governance' by Revanth Reddy.

He criticized the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation's fare increase across various services, projecting a daily burden of nearly ₹1 crore on Hyderabad's residents. The BRS leader also accused the Congress government of retaliatory actions against voters following electoral defeat, and warned of political consequences for mismanagement and policies he views as oppressive.
