In Karnataka's Shivamogga district, villagers have opted out of the ongoing state-run caste survey, their involvement contingent upon the installation of a much-needed network tower. Despite not opposing the survey itself, the residents demand improved connectivity, citing years of unmet requests.

Barur Gram Panchayat's Shashikumar emphasized the urgency of a network tower, as promises from officials over three years remain unfulfilled. The Tehsildar of Sagar Taluk has assured the installation within three days, leading to the temporary suspension of protests.

The villagers from four areas have demonstrated outside the gram panchayat office, rejecting the directive to provide personal information at the office instead of via home visits. Karnataka's caste survey, crucial for socio-educational data, continues amid contention.
