In a significant move towards strengthening the rural economy, the Maharashtra government has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation and Tata Motors Foundation. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced the agreements on Monday, highlighting their role in boosting innovative agricultural practices and empowering women farmers.
These collaborations are expected to enhance nutrition security and promote eco-friendly farming through the establishment of bio-happiness centres in agricultural universities. Agriculture Minister Dattatrey Bharane stated that the new initiatives will broaden agricultural goals to include gender justice and environmental sustainability.
The MoU with Tata Motors Foundation aims to revitalize rural development by impacting 63 gram panchayats. It sets a model for statewide replication, leveraging technology and CSR funds to ensure comprehensive beneficiary coverage under government schemes.
