Rajasthan Hosts Inauguration to Mark Historic Legal Reforms

In a significant move, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma reviewed the final preparations in Jaipur for Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit, ahead of the inauguration of an exhibition spotlighting India's new criminal laws. The exhibition commemorates the one-year anniversary of these reforms, opening on October 13, 2024.

The Director General of Police for Rajasthan, Rajeev Sharma, emphasized the importance of public participation in learning about the new laws, which include the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam. These laws were introduced to replace the outdated colonial laws, aiming to refocus India's judicial system from mere punishment to justice.

The theme, "Secure Society, Developed India - From Punishment to Justice," encapsulates the intent behind the overhaul, which includes addressing modern challenges such as cybercrime and organized crime. Home Minister Amit Shah hailed these changes as the most significant legal reforms of the 21st century, aligning them with the government's principles of prioritizing citizens' rights and justice.
