The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has initiated a nationwide drive to bolster public understanding and execution of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) with the launch of CPR Awareness Week. This event, inaugurated by Union Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava, is set to run from October 13-17, 2025, with the objective of empowering the public to tackle cardiac emergencies effectively.
Addressing attendees, Srivastava underscored the critical necessity for the populace to be adept in administering CPR, a ploy that can substantially increase survival odds during cardiac crises. The campaign highlights that a single trained individual in every household, school, and workplace can make a life-saving difference.
The Ministry's campaign responds to the alarming statistic that 70% of cardiac arrests occur outside hospitals, often in settings lacking immediate medical assistance. CPR Awareness Week features live CPR demonstrations, expert panels, and educational activities designed to encourage widespread participation and skill acquisition across India.
