Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president KT Rama Rao has launched a scathing attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, accusing them of showcasing blatant 'hatred' towards the formation of Telangana on the floor of Parliament. He argued that the BJP, through its actions, shows a lack of respect for Telangana's unique identity, and slammed their comparison of Telangana's formation with India's Partition as 'arrogant' and 'utterly foolish.'
According to a press release, KTR expressed dismay over the silence of Telangana MPs amid such controversial statements in Parliament. He pointed out that the people of Telangana are keenly watching how their self-respect is being undermined in the national capital. KTR alleged that BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and MP Tejasvi Surya, have a history of anti-Telangana sentiments which continue to insult the sacrifices made by those who fought for the state's formation.
Rao emphasized that Telangana's creation resulted from decades of struggle and the sacrifices of many, not from any political favor. Comparing this democratic struggle with the Partition of India reveals BJP's 'regressive mindset,' according to him. Rao condemned the silence of eight BJP MPs from Telangana and Congress MPs for not standing up against derogatory remarks. He demanded Tejasvi Surya retract his comments and issue an apology, cautioning that failure to do so would imply the party endorses such views.
