Dr M Sirinivas, the Director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi, is expected to ascend into the ranks of NITI Aayog, succeeding the outgoing member, Dr VK Paul. This leadership movement signifies a pivotal shift within the prestigious policy think tank.
Dr Sirinivas, who took the helm at AIIMS Delhi on September 22, 2022, brings a wealth of experience, having previously served as the dean at ESIC Hospital and Medical College in Hyderabad. Speculations about his successor at AIIMS point towards Dr. Nikhil Tandon, the current head of the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism at AIIMS Delhi.
Alongside Dr Sirinivas's appointment, NITI Aayog has fortified its leadership with the seasoned economist Dr Ashok Lahiri as Vice Chairperson, and esteemed scientist Dr Gobardhan Das as a member. Dr Lahiri's extensive career spans over four decades, contributing to institutions like the Asian Development Bank and the IMF, while Dr Das adds value with his expertise in Immunology and Infectious Diseases.
