The Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KSERC) has given the green light to the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) for procuring extra electricity to handle increased summer consumption.
This decision was made on Saturday following KSEB's petition that highlighted the surge in power consumption during late April and early May 2026, which led to considerable deficits despite alternative procurement arrangements.
The commission also noted that KSEB would procure up to 250 MW from power exchanges, emphasizing the need for daily monitoring and reporting of the power situation until conditions improve.
