The Delhi High Court has intervened in the contentious dispute concerning the estate of the late industrialist Sunjay Kapur. In a ruling on Thursday, it granted an interim injunction favoring the children of actress Karisma Kapoor, effectively barring Priya Kapur, Sunjay's widow, from managing or altering his assets.
According to Advocate Ravi Sharma, representing Karisma Kapoor's children, the court's decision restricts Priya Kapur from dealing with immobile properties, companies, shares, bank accounts, and cryptocurrency wallets of Sunjay Kapur. Sharma highlighted the court's insistence that Priya must address any 'suspicious circumstances' raised by the petitioners.
Meghna Mishra, counsel for Priya Kapur, described the order as balanced, indicating Priya Kapur had consented to maintain the status quo over assets. The court further clarified it lacks jurisdiction over foreign assets, promising a trial to conclude the long-standing dispute involving nearly Rs 30,000 crore in assets.
