Ukraine Targets Major Russian Oil Refinery in Leningrad Region Attack
Ukraine attempted an attack on Russia’s Kirishinefteorgsintez oil refinery, causing a fire in the Leningrad region with no casualties. The refinery, a major facility, processes a significant portion of Russia's oil. Russian forces reported intercepting multiple Ukrainian drones the same night.
In a bold move on Tuesday, Ukraine aimed to attack one of Russia's largest oil refineries, resulting in a fire in the town of Kirishi, in the Leningrad region, according to Governor Alexander Drozdenko.
Governor Drozdenko stated that the 'enemy's main target was the Kirishinefteorgsintez oil refinery,' emphasizing that, fortunately, there were no casualties, and the fire was swiftly contained. Firefighters worked diligently to conclude their operations.
From industry insights, Kirishinefteorgsintez, a leading oil refinery in Russia, processes 17.5 million metric tons of oil annually, nearly 6.6% of Russia's total refining capacity. Additionally, Russian Defense Ministry reported neutralizing 289 Ukrainian drones in adjacent regions during the night.
