Eastern Ukraine has suffered intense Russian attacks, resulting in the deaths of at least 27 people, just hours before a proposed open-ended ceasefire by Kyiv. Despite the ceasefire initiative, Russia has continued its strikes with increased intensity, causing significant casualties and damage across the region.
Ukraine's proposal for a ceasefire, intended to commence at midnight on Wednesday, met with no reciprocal calm from Russia. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy criticized Russia for intensifying attacks while planning military celebration parades.
In the midst of ongoing hostilities, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha accused Moscow of escalating terror. Amid the violent backdrop, significant damage and casualties continued to mount, with reports of aerial bombings and drone strikes hitting various Ukrainian cities.
