Vijay's TVK Takes Tamil Nadu by Storm: Governor Dissolves Assembly

Tamil Nadu's political dynamics took a dramatic turn on Wednesday as Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar dissolved the state Legislative Assembly, effective May 5. This development follows the state polls where the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), spearheaded by actor-turned-politician Vijay, emerged victorious as the largest party.

Despite his party's success in securing 108 seats in the 234-member assembly, Vijay is still 10 seats short of a majority. With his planned resignation from one of his two assembly seats, TVK will have an effective strength of 107 seats. Nevertheless, TVK is gaining traction with five Congress MLAs pledging their support.

Dialogue between Vijay and Governor Arlekar is ongoing, with a meeting scheduled to address the formation of the government. Congress's state leadership has formally extended support to TVK, recognizing this as a strategic shift against the traditional DMK-AIADMK dominance which has spanned decades.
