Bolivia announces energy reforms to attract foreign investment
Bolivia's government on Thursday announced a plan for a new electricity and renewable energy law aimed at attracting international investment and reducing the country's dependence on natural gas.
The new legislation would replace the law in effect since 1994 and seeks to reverse the model of complete state control.
The law would allow private companies to participate in the generation, export and import of energy, said the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energy, Marcelo Blanco, at a press conference.
