On Tuesday, Vala Raju, the Karnataka State President of the All India Students' Federation, accused the Union government of centralizing the education system through its handling of the NEET examination process, claiming it curtails state rights. He criticized the National Testing Agency (NTA) for failing to conduct the exam properly, highlighting the unresolved 2024 NEET paper leak incident.
Raju further accused the Union government of ignoring broader student concerns, opting to cancel and re-conduct exams rather than addressing the systemic issues. He alleged that the NTA operates as a revenue-generating tool for the government while permitting widespread exam paper leaks, citing a rampant scheme where exam papers are illegally distributed nationwide.
Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has initiated an investigation into alleged NEET-UG 2026 exam irregularities following widespread reports of paper leaks. An FIR, filed under multiple provisions including the Prevention of Corruption Act, indicates a serious breach of trust, prompting a cancellation of the May 3 exam, with a reschedule promised by the authorities.
