The state government of Tamil Nadu is set to disburse the May installment of Rs 1000 under the 'Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai' scheme. This was confirmed by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, who reiterated the government's commitment to supporting women financially.
The initiative, which originated during the former DMK regime, is named in honor of the late leader M Karunanidhi, and aims to provide essential financial aid to women beneficiaries across the state. Vijay assured the deposits would be made directly into the beneficiaries' bank accounts.
In fulfillment of electoral promises, Vijay's party had pledged consistent financial support for women. As part of these efforts, the government continues to prioritize the restructuring and streamlined distribution of funds to improve the livelihoods of women in Tamil Nadu.
