Social Welfare Minister of Delhi, Ravinder Indraj Singh, marked a significant meeting with Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu on the occasion of Sandhu's birthday. The meeting focused on a broad spectrum of public welfare matters that are crucial to the development and daily lives of Delhi's residents.
Chief among the topics discussed was the urgent need for conservation and rejuvenation of Delhi's water bodies. Minister Singh highlighted the dire condition of ponds, lakes, and traditional water sources, which are struggling due to neglect, encroachments, and pollution. He proposed an integrated approach, including cleanup and the incorporation of rainwater harvesting systems to revitalize these critical resources.
Additionally, issues concerning basic amenities such as clean drinking water, roads, sewerage, and drainage were raised. Singh stressed the longstanding challenge of land ownership rights for marginalized communities. With an emphasis on comprehensive planning, he advocated for these issues to be part of Delhi's Master Plan 2041.
