In a grave incident that has left the nation mourning, 10 individuals lost their lives in a road accident near Barheta village, Lakhimpur Kheri, on Monday morning. The collision between a truck and a van on the Lakhimpur-Bahraich Highway occurred around 7 AM, resulting in fatalities and injuries.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his heartfelt condolences and announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured. "Deeply pained to hear about the mishap in Lakhimpur Kheri," Modi stated on X, wishing the injured a swift recovery.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described the incident as "heartbreaking and soul-wrenching," urging the local administration to provide immediate aid to the affected.
