Tripura is witnessing significant economic growth driven by women-led Self Help Groups (SHGs), as highlighted by Chief Minister Manik Saha. During a program organized by the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), Saha emphasized the crucial role of these groups in the state's Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP).
Currently, over 4.95 lakh rural women are part of 55,569 SHGs, striving towards economic independence. The successful implementation of initiatives like Samriddhi 1.0 and 2.0 underscores their impact, with loan disbursements far exceeding initial targets.
Despite initial skepticism, bankers now support these groups, acknowledging their low NPA rates. The state celebrates 1,08,281 'lakhpati didis', marking a significant milestone in rural women's empowerment and economic contribution.
