Andhra Pradesh Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh on Wednesday launched the 'Holiday in Andhra Pradesh' campaign and called for collective efforts to position the state among the country's leading tourism destinations.
Launching the campaign poster during a virtual review meeting on tourism development at the Secretariat, the Minister stressed the need to prioritise holiday tourism, temple tourism and destination weddings to strengthen the sector.
''The 'Holiday in Andhra Pradesh' campaign has been launched to position the state among the country's top tourism destinations with the support of all stakeholders,'' said Durgesh in an official press release.
The minister urged people to choose destinations within Andhra Pradesh for weddings and holidays, saying it would help boost the local economy and support tourism growth.
He observed that Andhra Pradesh possesses immense tourism potential with destinations such as Gandikota, Araku Valley, Visakhapatnam and Konaseema attracting visitors with their natural beauty.
According to Durgesh, the campaign would run for one year to create awareness about tourist destinations in the state and encourage more travellers to explore them.
The programme would help generate employment opportunities for local youth while benefiting hotels, homestays and the transport sector.
Durgesh said the government is also focusing on improving tourist convenience through airport-to-airport travel packages and other facilities to provide a better travel experience.
Referring to Andhra Pradesh receiving the tourism promotion city award this year, the Minister described it as recognition of the state's growing prominence in the tourism sector and said the award would be received on June 4.
