The Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), a public sector undertaking, will help the DJB in the operation and management of 300 electric water tankers, a statement said on Thursday.
''In a significant step towards advancing clean urban mobility and sustainable public service delivery, CESL will support the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) in the development, operation and management of 300 electric water tankers in Delhi,'' it said.
The CESL further stated that it will support the DJB in planning and implementing the deployment of 300 electric water tankers, including charging infrastructure, sensors and other features, which is expected to significantly reduce vehicular emissions.
''Deployment of electric water tankers will also help strengthen last-mile water delivery in areas facing water scarcity. The initiative is expected to improve reliability and efficiency in water distribution, ensuring smoother and more sustainable access to essential services for residents,'' the statement said.
The transition from conventional diesel-powered tankers to electric alternatives will also help create a more efficient and environmentally responsible public utility ecosystem, it added.
The work will be carried out on Gross Cost Contracting (GCC) mode. Under this model, private operators own, operate and maintain the buses, while local transport authorities pay a fixed, assured per-kilometre fee.
