A comprehensive outreach programme under 'PRARAMBH-2026' was held in Thane to create awareness regarding the provisions of Income Tax Act 2025, an official said on Friday.
The event was organised on May 21 by the office of the Principal Commissioner of Income Tax-1, Thane, and saw the participation of more than 350 taxpayers, including representatives from Thane Chamber of Commerce, ICAI, and local cooperative banks, he added.
Comprehensive presentations were delivered on salient features of the new legislation by Joint Commissioner of Income Tax (Audit Unit) Madhukar Anand, along with chartered accountants Vimal Punamiya and Vijay Joshi, a release from the IT department said.
''The sessions focused on the new 'Tax Year' concept, return filing frameworks, and TDS/TCS provisions aimed at reducing compliance burdens and improving taxpayer convenience,'' it added.
An interactive Q&A session helped clarify practical implementation queries, reinforcing stakeholder confidence, the department said while reiterating its larger objective to promote transparency and a trust-based tax system through proactive stakeholder engagement.
