An overnight inferno in New Delhi's Hauz Khas tragically claimed the life of 80-year-old retired IAS officer, Dhanender Kumar. Official reports indicate that smoke inhalation led to his demise, while his son remains hospitalized with injuries that are reportedly not life-threatening.
The fire department received an emergency call at approximately 11:18 PM on May 27. Responders, including police and fire services, quickly arrived at the scene and successfully extinguished the flames with the assistance of two fire tenders. Despite the swift response, Kumar succumbed to smoke inhalation during treatment at AIIMS Trauma Centre.
Investigations reveal that the fire might have originated from a malfunction in an air conditioner's indoor unit. Five persons, comprising family and domestic help, were inside the residence at the time. Authorities continue to inspect the site, with no immediate suspicion of foul play. The community awaits further updates as inquiries persist.
