NSUI Challenges CBSE's New Digital Evaluation System in Delhi High Court

The National Students' Union of India (NSUI) has taken legal action by filing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Delhi High Court, challenging the Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) recently implemented On-Screen Marking (OSM) system for Class XII examinations. The student organization contends that the digital evaluation system has caused significant difficulties for numerous students following the announcement of their results.

In its plea, NSUI argues that Class XII results are pivotal for college admissions, scholarships, and other educational opportunities. It insists that inaccuracies in the evaluation can lead to severe repercussions for students. Citing a range of public communications from CBSE acknowledging technical issues and deadline extensions, the petition notes a massive influx of applications, totaling over 1.27 lakh, requesting scanned copies of answer sheets.

The student body emphasizes widespread student concerns over the digital marking system's reliability, reporting problems like blurred scans, incomplete uploads, and mismatched answer sheets. Claiming an inadequate grievance redressal mechanism, NSUI seeks the reopening of the verification portal and calls for manual rechecking where needed. Additionally, the organization requests an independent inquiry and improved future safeguards for digital evaluations.
