A concerning trend has emerged in the realm of public health, as young adults are increasingly suffering from hip-related issues due to the misuse of steroids and unregulated protein supplements. This severe warning was issued by orthopaedic specialists at the recent 'Delhi Hip 360' conference.
Dr. L Tomar, leading the conference, noted a worrying surge in cases of Avascular Necrosis (AVN), a condition traditionally seen in older adults. Many young patients in their 20s are now presenting hip complaints, largely attributed to anabolic steroids and unverified protein powders.
The Maharashtra FDA has responded by conducting statewide inspections after reports of steroid-laced protein powders. Experts emphasize the need for awareness and regulation in the fitness industry to prevent further irreversible damage amongst the youth.
