Tragedy Strikes: Explosion at Telangana Pharma Plant Claims Lives

A tragic explosion at the Sigachi Industries pharmaceutical plant in Telangana's Sangareddy district claimed 12 lives and injured 34 others on Monday. The blast occurred while about 90 individuals were working in the plant around 9.30 AM. The state's Health Minister, C Damodar Rajanarasimha, along with Labour Minister G Vivek Venkatswamy, visited the site to assess the situation.

The cause of the deadly blast is still unknown, with technical experts examining the site for details. Venkatswamy reported that 12 critically injured individuals are on ventilator support due to severe burns affecting their respiratory systems. The government hopes for the swift recovery of the remaining 22 injured.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep grief over the incident, offering condolences to bereaved families. He announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the deceased's next of kin and Rs 50,000 for the injured. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed officials to facilitate advanced medical care for affected workers. The company and local authorities are actively involved in rescue operations and support activities, with ongoing efforts to clear debris and search for any trapped individuals.
