Dr Haris Chirakkal, head of the Urology Department at a government medical college, acknowledged using an improper method to spotlight a shortage of surgical equipment, igniting political uproar. He opted for a Facebook post due to lack of alternatives but is prepared to face repercussions.

Chirakkal emphasized his critique targeted bureaucratic sluggishness, not the state government or health department. He expressed surprise at the controversy, noting no intentions to affect the CPI(M) or its leaders, who have historically supported him.

Undeterred by potential job loss, Chirakkal remains committed to public service over private or overseas employment. He submitted necessary evidence to an investigative committee and is ready to accept any penalties, having delegated his responsibilities in anticipation of disciplinary action.
