Rare Birth: Baby Girl with Two Heads Born in Indore

A highly unusual birth occurred in Indore when a 22-year-old woman delivered a baby girl with two heads and a single torso at the Maharaja Tukojirao Hospital. The newborn, weighing 2.8 kg, is now fighting for her life in the neonatal intensive care unit.

Senior pediatrician Dr. Nilesh Jain explained that the infant is grappling with respiratory difficulties and other serious health issues caused by the rare congenital deformity. She has been placed on life support in a bid to manage her condition.

Dr. Jain further elaborated that the infant possesses two hearts, though one is critically underdeveloped and the other is severely compromised. The rarity of this condition, which occurs in approximately one in every two lakh births, poses significant challenges to the baby's long-term survival prospects.
