The Himachal Pradesh government has declared a mandatory doping test for 'Chitta' during police recruitment and requires new government employees to assure they are not using the synthetic drug. This decision emerged from a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who reiterated the state's zero-tolerance policy on drug abuse.
Departments of police, social justice and empowerment, and health shared strategies to combat drug abuse. The state is intensifying efforts to disrupt drug networks and has seen significant action, including the attachment of properties worth Rs 42.22 crore connected to drug-related activities.
The government emphasizes rehabilitation, setting up Integrated Rehabilitation Centres across the region. The chief minister called for active participation from community organizations and the education sector, while highlighting the need for coordinated departmental strategies and robust interstate border checks to curtail trafficking.
