In a significant crackdown, a sizable stock of banned chemical injections intended for blood pressure regulation was seized from a gym trainer in Thane. Authorities allege that the 32-year-old was covertly selling these drugs to bodybuilders without any legal prescriptions.

The operation, coordinated by the police and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), was actioned on Tuesday night at the Wagle Estate area following reliable intelligence. During the raid, officers seized 290 bottles of Mephentermine Sulphate, a Schedule H drug which necessitates a prescription from a registered healthcare professional.

Inspector Salil Bhosle indicated that the seized drugs were valued at Rs 1,07,604 and are typically used under strict medical guidance for blood pressure management. Alarmingly, these drugs have gained popularity among bodybuilders for their performance-enhancing capabilities. The investigation further revealed the drugs were imported illegally and distributed without medical monitoring, leading to the gym trainer's detainment and subsequent FIR registration under relevant legal provisions.
