The Tamil Nadu government, under the leadership of Chief Minister M K Stalin, is poised to launch the 'Nalam Kakkum Stalin' health screening initiative on August 2. This comprehensive program aims to bring advanced diagnostic tools and expert consultations directly to people's doorsteps, focusing particularly on those in neglected rural areas.
Additional Chief Secretary J Radhakrishnan highlighted the importance of the initiative, pointing out that many individuals, especially those over 40 or in remote locations, often avoid regular health check-ups. The camps are designed to detect any underlying health conditions and ensure proper treatment is administered in a timely manner.
In a bid to improve accessibility and encourage participation, test results will be shared via WhatsApp on the same day. The holistic effort will see coordination across various government departments, with direct oversight by Chief Minister Stalin and Chief Secretary N Muruganandam. A total of 1,256 camps are planned, with a prioritized focus on vulnerable groups, including those with chronic illnesses and socio-economically disadvantaged communities.
