A 20-year-old Palestinian woman, Marah Abu Zuhri, who was in critical physical condition, died in Italy after being evacuated from Gaza for treatment, the Pisa University Hospital confirmed on Saturday.

Admitted to the hospital on Wednesday, she succumbed to a respiratory crisis followed by cardiac arrest on Friday. Despite tests and supportive therapy, her complex medical state was too severe to overcome. Her evacuation was part of a broader humanitarian mission by Italy, which has flown 31 patients from Gaza this year.

Malnutrition remains a severe issue in Gaza, with almost 12,000 children under five affected. Despite Israeli claims against starvation in Gaza, images depict a dire situation, prompting global concern over the living conditions after months of restricted aid.
