In a troubling development, Pakistan has documented two additional polio cases, raising the incidence count for 2025 to 21, according to health authorities on Monday.
These new cases highlight Pakistan, alongside Afghanistan, as the remaining bastions of endemic polio. The incidents emerged from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Kohistan Lower district and Sindh's Badin district.
Efforts to combat the virus include a Sub-National Polio Vaccination Campaign, launching September 1st, targeting over 28 million children. The National Institute of Health underscores the urgency to fortify child immunization amid the persistent threat of polio.
