In a significant step to enhance the healthcare landscape, the Maharashtra cabinet has approved a comprehensive stamp duty waiver for Tata Memorial Centre's cancer hospital project in Raigad. The move is expected to bolster infrastructure, making quality healthcare accessible to wider sections of society.
The project will see the establishment of an Integrated Ayurvedic Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, with a 100-bed facility, on 10 hectares of government land in Khalapur taluka. The land has been granted on a 30-year lease at a nominal annual rent of Rs 1, and the applicable stamp duty of Rs 38.99 lakh has been fully waived.
Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule emphasized that this development will not only expand research and treatment services but also offer subsidies for economically weaker patients. The decision is a cornerstone in the state's efforts to improve healthcare outreach, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas.
