A medical student in Jharkhand's East Singhbhum district ended his life by allegedly consuming a poisonous substance in his hotel room, police reported on Friday.

The student, Dibyanshu Pandey, in his third year at Manipal Medical College, allegedly ingested poison in his hostel room at Baridih under Sidhgora Police Station limits on Thursday. He was admitted to Tata Main Hospital but tragically passed away on Friday, according to Sidhgora Police Station officer-in-charge Virendra Kumar.

Pandey, from Samstipur in Bihar, had been suffering from depression following the death of his father.
