In Shahapur Taluka, Thane district, at least 16 individuals reportedly fell ill after consuming contaminated water, according to an official statement released on Thursday.

The incident occurred in Chakkichapda, Pendhari, where numerous residents experienced symptoms such as loose motions and abdominal discomfort, as explained by Ramesh Jadhav, medical officer at Pivli Primary Health Centre, to PTI.

While initial treatments were provided at Pivli PHC, seven individuals exhibiting severe symptoms were transferred to Shahapur Sub-District Hospital for advanced care, and two were moved to a private facility. Water samples have been dispatched for laboratory analysis to determine the contamination source. Meanwhile, a medical screening camp has been set up, and locals have been advised to avoid using the contaminated water source.
