The Punjab government has initiated the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, aiming to provide cashless medical treatment up to Rs 10 lakh. The health insurance scheme was formally approved by the cabinet on July 10 and officially began registration for residents in Tarn Taran and Barnala districts.
Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh announced that the scheme covers all 65 lakh families in the state. Enrollees can receive treatment in both government and over 500 empanelled private hospitals. Required documentation includes an Aadhaar card and voter card, with no income criteria imposed.
With an allocated budget of Rs 930 crore, the comprehensive coverage includes over 2,000 health procedures. The scheme represents Punjab's pioneering step in offering such extensive health benefits, as affirmed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
