Among the chaos, rescuers could pull only five patients to safety and evacuate another 14 from different ICUs. Family members have voiced accusations of negligence against hospital authorities, exacerbating the tragedy's aftermath.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other officials extended condolences. A high-level committee has been set up to probe the incident, promising swift action and compensation for victims.
