The Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian has suspended two senior drug inspectors for their lack of action in a serious cough syrup adulteration case. The state aims to permanently close the pharma company accountable for the deaths allegedly caused by its product.

The inspectors faced suspension for not inspecting the Sresen Pharma factory for two years, and steps have already been initiated to permanently revoke the company's operational status, Subramanian confirmed. The health minister revealed these actions following the arrest of the company's owner, G Ranganathan.

Tamil Nadu was the first to confirm the cough syrup's adulteration and promptly informed national health bodies. Quick measures, including a stop production order, were enacted to avert a potential crisis. An ongoing investigation may lead to the company's permanent closure, according to the minister.
