Mumbai, October 13, 2025: RusanMed, a Rusan Healthcare initiative, has unveiled its latest Independent Survey on Pain Management in India, revealing crucial challenges and systemic barriers in delivering effective pain care. The survey, conducted in 2025, garnered responses from 746 out of 1,000 medical professionals, a significant increase from 2024's 350 respondents.

The findings indicate a pressing need for pain management to be recognized as a distinct medical specialty. Key barriers identified include a lack of awareness, limited education, and minimal specialized clinics. Approximately 44.4% of doctors pointed out the lack of education as a major obstacle, while 34.6% highlighted the scarcity of specialized pain clinics.

Key strategies for improving pain care include educational programs, comprehensive management centers, and public awareness initiatives. The rural-urban divide remains a concern, with significant patient migration to cities for pain relief. Telemedicine is emerging as a potential solution, deemed effective by many professionals in addressing rural gaps.
