A suspected mass food poisoning incident struck a wedding feast in Gujarat's Dahod district, affecting over 200 individuals and leading to nearly 60 hospitalizations. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has demanded a detailed report from local authorities to understand the severity and causes of the incident.
Shortly after diners consumed their meals, which included mango juice, numerous attendees began experiencing severe symptoms, including vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. The first cases were reported around 11 pm, and those affected were quickly transferred to community health centers and private hospitals.
Gujarat authorities are working in collaboration with the central food safety regulator to collect and examine food samples. The Dahod collector assured that all necessary measures are being taken for the patients' well-being and that those responsible for the contaminated food will face stringent legal action.
