The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has halted the publication of a report on COVID-19 vaccine efficacy, according to a statement from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on Wednesday.
Concerns regarding the methodological approach to estimating vaccine effectiveness led to the report being blocked from the CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR), noted HHS spokesman Andrew Nixon.
The delay follows challenges in COVID vaccine research and comes amid altered shot recommendations under Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., whose position on vaccines has spurred controversy.
