BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar has criticized the Kerala government, blaming them for recent deaths caused by snakebites due to alleged negligence. Multiple incidents, including fatalities of children, have been reported, highlighting serious lapses in healthcare provision.
Chandrasekhar contends that authorities have failed to supply hospitals with the necessary anti-venom stocks, exacerbating the tragedy. He pointed to incidents where hospitals did not diagnose snakebites promptly, denying victims the life-saving treatment they urgently needed. Chandrasekhar described this as not just an accident but a systemic failure.
The Kerala Health Department recently conducted a review meeting to address these concerns, urging hospitals to focus on swift diagnosis and treatment efficacy. Meanwhile, State Health Minister Veena George encourages the public to use 108 ambulance services for emergencies involving snakebites.
