In a concerning development, Kerala witnessed two more snakebite fatalities on Sunday, bringing the total to seven in recent days. Elderly women residing in Kannur and Idukki succumbed to venomous bites despite being rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The deceased include Nafeesa, 65, from Muthkuda near Thaliparamba, and Vishalakshi, 75, from Kanjar in Idukki district. Both women were bitten by snakes near their homes and did not survive despite receiving medical attention, authorities confirmed. Nafeesa was suspected of being bitten by a common krait.

The Kerala government has announced financial support for Anosh, a 10-year-old boy undergoing treatment following a snakebite in Thrissur. With temperatures climbing, experts caution that snakes may enter homes seeking cooler areas, leading to increased encounters with humans.
