A fire broke out at Guru Nanak Hospital here on Wednesday morning, following which several patients were safely evacuated, officials said. No casualties were reported in the incident, they said. All patients and staff of the hospital are stated to be safe. Bidar Deputy Commissioner Shilpa Sharma told PTI that the fire broke out in the office section of the hospital building, causing dense smoke to spread. Citing preliminary inquiry, she said a short circuit is suspected to have caused the fire, though the exact cause is yet to be ascertained. All patients were safely shifted by ambulance to the government hospital and other facilities, she said. Two fire tenders and 20 personnel were deployed to douse the fire, officials said. ''As soon as we arrived, we shifted the patients, who were trapped, to safer places. Wearing breathing apparatus, our personnel entered the building and evacuated the patients. We took steps to ensure there were no casualties and to prevent the fire from spreading. Through the operation, all patients were rescued,'' a senior fire official said.
