FIFA Updates Ticket Resale Policy for Toronto World Cup Matches

FIFA has revised its ticket resale policy for the World Cup matches in Toronto, allowing resales exclusively at the original purchase price. This policy change aligns with Ontario's recent legislation prohibiting ticket sales above their face value.

The adjustments follow the province's enactment of its 2026 budget bill, known as the 'Putting Fans First Act,' forbidding resale price hikes. FIFA's updated terms mean tickets for matches at Toronto Stadium must not be listed for more than their initial cost, regardless of previous purchases.

While the restriction is specific to Toronto, FIFA's official resale marketplace permits higher prices at the other 15 venues, in compliance with federal and local laws. As of April 20, over five million tickets for the tournament, co-hosted by Canada, the U.S., and Mexico, have been sold.
