An expert committee from AIIMS-Delhi and other central medical institutions will examine a string of postpartum deaths at Kota's New Medical College Hospital, announced Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday. Birla highlighted this issue as 'an extremely sensitive matter,' emphasizing that any negligence in treatment would not be tolerated.
During a high-level review meeting, officials were directed to maintain stringent adherence to medical protocols to prevent similar incidents. The AIIMS-led team will scrutinize infection-control systems, surgical procedures, and hospital management in the hospitals across Kota and Bundi districts, proposing necessary reforms and drafting new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
The meeting saw participation from top health officials including Principal Secretary Gayatri Rathore and other prominent district officers. Significant focus was placed on reviewing hospital infrastructure, cleanliness, and emergency services while ensuring quality patient care. Prompt actions were ordered against any personnel found negligent in their duties.
