Revolutionizing Medicine Safety: IPC's Strategic Collaborations with State Pharmacy Councils

The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) took a significant step on Tuesday by signing memoranda of understanding with the pharmacy councils of Bihar, Maharashtra, and Mizoram, aiming to bolster pharmacovigilance efforts and medicine safety across these states.

These MoUs, inked at IPC's headquarters in Ghaziabad, mark a strategic move towards the rational use of medicines and the strengthening of patient safety systems. As outlined by a health ministry spokesperson, this collaboration is a testament to IPC's commitment to improving healthcare standards.

Under this partnership, the IPC and partnering councils will ensure the National Formulary of India (NFI) is widely adopted, and will establish ADR Monitoring Centres under the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI) to report adverse drug reactions. Moreover, pharmacists will be empowered through targeted training programs.
