Maharashtra Health Department Investigates Potential Avian Flu in Poultry Workers

The Maharashtra health department has announced its plan to send eight samples to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) for testing potential human avian flu in workers involved with poultry in Nandurbar. This action follows concerns about the possible transmission of the virus in an area affected by bird flu.
According to District Health Officer Ravindra Sonawane, the samples were collected from individuals in direct contact with birds and those participating in culling activities. Despite no symptoms manifesting, the measures are being taken to ensure public safety and health.
As a precaution, Tamiflu tablets are being distributed to the workers involved. Sonawane confirmed that no government employee samples are part of this testing process.
