A minor fire erupted in the Intensive Care Unit of the TB and Chest Department at the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, Odisha, on Thursday evening. Officials attributed the cause to a suspected electrical short circuit, leading to an emergency response from the ward staff.
The timely intervention ensured no injuries occurred, with three patients being swiftly moved to a different area. Damage was limited to a wall fan. Security staff managed to extinguish the fire before the arrival of fire personnel. Hospital superintendent Sudeepta Das described the incident as minor, emphasizing plans for a review of safety protocols.
